Two Decades at DSRB…

This academic year has been special for us as we are completing thirty years of Bombay Cambridge Gurukul and twenty years of our school! Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya, Borivali has grown into an international school as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan International School, Borivali. In twenty years we have made our mark from the local map to the global map. Sixteen batches of students have passed SSC and our first batch of IGCSE students is getting ready!

What makes each school special? I believe it’s the school’sculture that makes each school unique! Over these twenty years, we are learning to learn new ideas and skills every day. Few years back, there was a different set of problems and solutions, but we have labelled those old sets as ‘Obsolete’ and are now ready to evolve with new systems, procedures and solutions every day. Parent profile has changed to a great extent from joint family culture to nuclear families with working and ambitious parents - naturally more demanding! Gradually schools have also changed in terms of systems, structures, activities, etc. to face this paradigm shift. With the changing needs, we have altered our life skill education modules, introduced Personal Safety Education and Child protection policy. To cater to the changing needs of parents, we have introducednew topics like Raising Compassionate Child, Mother Daughter session, Father’s Role, Women Empowerment to our parents through ‘Anubhuti’, the workshops for parents.

Students coming up are energetic, more talented, swift in their actions, quite aware and hence it is important for us to channelize their potentials, keep them engaged in constructive activities and discuss values and beliefs with them.So the ideas of new concepts like GRASP, PACE, I-Connect, Meditation, Magical Mementoes came into picture and were implemented successfully.

To cope up with escalating needs at school, we are continuously going through training programs and help our children grow better. In the process we are growing too! As our school song says, ‘we are the teachers and we are the learners’, and we consistently learning, discovering, exploring and implementing!

School is an important place to learn social skills, and students need a platform to explore, discuss and someone to bank on. And who else can do it better than our teachers? The one aspect that has been constant in all these years is our school culture- caring, friendly and reflective teachers with student focused environment! Our students are making us feel proud with their growing achievements in all fields.Truly at DSRB, our teachers are our strength and our students are our pride!

Parents and well-wishers have been a great source of learning and support for all these years! With suchwonderful bonding between educators, students and parents we will set higher benchmarks! I believe, “Achievement is not important but making each day better than yesterday makes a huge difference!”
