The Ripple Effect

The New Year 2020 has begun with a new vision and new hopes. It is time to think broad, accept diversity, reach out to people and unfold life with contentment.

I came across a story about a young girl, who had a different perspective to lead her life. She was an excellent dancer and felt ecstasy each time she tapped her feet to pulsating music. When asked about her choice of career, she had no clue but she always had a dream of extending her dancing talent to visually impaired children. She developed a small team and approached many schools for the blind to share her idea but unfortunately struggled to convince many of them. Even after getting a breakthrough, she had to face numerous challenges. One of them being able to make a visually impaired child get the gist of the song, using other sensory organs, and translate them into dance steps. Imagine the plight of making a child dance on rain songs even though he has not seen a ray of light. She also faced technical difficulties, space crunches, adjusting to a school system, etc. Yet, with sheer determination and perseverance, she accomplished her dream and passed the bliss on to them! The satisfaction she received was beyond words and this helped her to keep moving ahead. Over a period of 2-3 years, her team expanded significantly, and some enthusiasts like her developed their own teams. This created a social movement and many such teams were established across other cities to spread a positive vibe which started with a small dream.

Being just an individual, among billions on this earth, sometimes makes us feel insignificant. A sense of complacency sets in which does not allow us to do simple things that can cause a difference in peoples’ lives. People who are remarkably successful, think and act differently from the crowd. They have an attitude that is positive, respectful, and full of action. They do the work they love, and they love the people they work with. This is the unique thought that makes all the difference. When any action is a product of genuine passion and delight, people can’t stop but to pass it on.

Happiness has a ripple effect, in whatever medium you create it in; it will definitely be passed on. These ripples will move far ahead beyond any structures and shapes. There are no boundaries to create happiness when it comes from within. If an idea that comes with passion and joy is shared with a small group of people, it will expand concentrically to form a ripple. Some of these people will create their own ripples by themselves and become the representatives of positivity.

We create ripples wherever we go; we only need to be conscious of it and aware that IT MATTERS!! Don't look to others to give you happiness. Grow it within yourself and share it with the world around you. If you give a bit of your happiness to the world, it will begin a ripple effect, and who knows how many other people you can help.

This new year, let’s make a resolution to be that driving force to create such ripple of joy and spread the magic of happiness.

Wish you a very happy 2020!!
