School education will be incomplete if we depend on classroom teaching only; it may give us excellent results but can never make students confident, self-reliant, dependable and smart in a holistic way. Social Emotional learning curriculum helps students to achieve this goal and we have a specific plan for it in our school routine. Life skill education modules, career guidance sessions, annual events and other activities are part of this curriculum. Life skill education modules are planned thoughtfully by trained and experienced counselors at school. The objective of these modules is to address and discuss age appropriate issues like personal safety, social etiquettes, resolving conflicts, cyber safety and importance of Emotional Quotient. These modules provide a platform for students to introspect, think with a broader perspective and understand points put forth by others. Education is about learning certain skill sets which enables to sketch one’s life and live it in a desired manner. Marks obtained in the subjects that we learn in the classroom are trivial as against the skills one needs to develop while learning these subjects. Our world is competitive in nature and unfortunately the spotlight has always been on HOW MUCH and not on HOW! The effort on how we perceive this requires a paradigm shift to a process-oriented learning than the results. An out of the box teaching approach allows students to explore skills like decision making, being solution oriented, developing leadership qualities and accepting different perspectives. The most enthusiastic and formative phase for students is school life where young adults are in action. Learning at school should be a joy to explore and each day should be made interesting and exciting. All these scenarios can be brought into reality through meticulous planning followed by precise and concise execution....

Flash Mob on the eve of our Independence Day focused on the theme of ‘Inner Freedom' seeking relief from stress, competition, jealousy and gadgets. It is a common sight nowadays to see people engrossed in smart phones or other gizmos and this prevailing scenario has a great impact on our younger generation. Children growing in this digital world text more than they speak. They love speed, seek immediate feedback and rely on facts only. Their multitasking skills are commendable and help them to achieve more in less time, if used in the right manner. Although some of the features of this Gen Z are essential; but to lead a successful life, one must develop a different skill set which surely includes building interpersonal relationships. Gadgets are bringing the world closer but taking humans apart. Most of the communication is through chats and emoticons. Can it replace the warmth in human connections? The answer is definitely NO! Each Day Is Special!

‘ Intentions are good if they are expressed in the right manner!’ Having kept this in mind, we have decided to teach our students to make each day special for themselves! Gratitude, forgiveness, and encouragement are the inseparable parts of kindness. To instil these values subtly and inculcate good habits, we have introduced special features for each day. ·          Moving Monday : The first day of the week needs to be energetic. Simple body movements help magical co-ordination with the left and right side of the brain. Stretch a bit, give rhythm to movements and add a fun element to the normal routine! ·          Smiley Tuesday : Smile brings happiness not only to you but to everyone around. Failure- A Step Towards Success!

The month of May was full of results; beginning with school examinations to Lok Sabha Elections!! The word ‘result’ creates lot of apprehension as well as enthusiasm. Even if the preparation is adequate, there are still butterflies in the stomach on the day of results. This anxiety reflects both hope as well as distress in each individual. When results are announced, we see various reactions; joy, depression, irritation or even denial. Observing the current scenario and the hype associated with the results, it is obvious that accepting failure is a challenge for kids. If results are unexpected, kids take extreme steps like inflicting injury to self. This is certainly not desirable and the root cause of this behaviour is that children are not taught to accept failure. In an attempt to provide the best to kids, the craving to win has completely overshadowed the lessons one learns from losing. It is high time people realize that every child cannot be a topper in every examination...

The most awaited break has begun as the academic year has come to an end. This pause in the teaching-learning process is an important step. It’s not just a vacation but the time to spend with ourselves. The academic year is a happening phase and it is strenuous for educators as well as students. Teaching-learning is a continuous and demanding activity which needs innovation at each step. This break indicates that special time for students, educators and all who are involved to think, reflect and revive! For educators, it's the best time to reflect on their methodology, a new approach for a difficult concept, plans to use differentiation in the classroom, strategies to handle student discipline, tactics to evaluate the success of their planning, availability of new aids, use of new technology and many other aspects.
